The goal of this empowering, motivation-inducing campaign by Dr. Koyah is to create a movement that impacts the college-going culture of America with a message to strive, survive, and thrive while allowing U.S. high school and community college and college/university students to share their stories of striving, surviving, and thriving in school and life.

There are two sides to this campaign and work: (1) a social media campaign featuring videos, pictures, podcasts, and social media sharing featuring content surrounding and all around the theme of American students striving, surviving, and thriving through the control and use of daily social media hashtags to frame and govern the content. Eventually, the goal will be to allow global students and educators to also chime in and get involved in the movement.

Our Why?

What are we Fighting Against in the Culture Across American Community Colleges, Colleges/Universities:

● College apathy and questioning of value of college education

● Low student retention rates

● High high school dropout rates (especially among Black and Brown students)

● Lack of motivation, striving, surviving, and true thriving in school and life

● Just going through the motions/just bodies in seats

● A lack of awareness and understanding of how to strive, survive, and thrive in school and in life!

Educators/Professors:

● A lack of caring among some educators

● A classroom learning environment that lacks student engagement and is leading to boredom or a lack of students learning set learning objectives

● A lack of awareness and understanding of how to assist students to strive, survive, and thrive in school and in life and the facilitators of how to help them do so.

Student Goals:

● Provide one of first-ever American social media sharing platforms to gain information on how to better strive, survive, and thrive in school and life

● Provide one of the first-ever American cross-institutional platforms for students from different community colleges, colleges/universities to share social media content (pictures, videos) and their stories of striving, surviving, and thriving

● Provide one of the first-ever American cross-institutional platforms for U.S. high school students to learn how to prepare for college and what college life is really like

● Provide one of the first-ever American cross-institutional platforms for America educators to share how their encouraging and helping students to strive, survive, and thriving.

● Provide one of the first-ever American cross-institutional platforms for U.S. college administrators to hear real life accounts and view social media content of how well American students are striving, surviving, and thriving along with the facilitators that help to make that happen.

● Offer outreach content in the form of: workshops, seminars, webinars, and town hall meetings on high school and community college/college campuses to help more college students to develop a game plan to strive, survive, and thrive in school and life!

● Add to the existing body of research on the subject.

Educators/Professors Goals:

● Increase Student Engagement in American Classrooms

● Decrease Apathy among educators

● Increase Caring among educators

● Decrease the use of PowerPoint only lessons that lack student engagement strategies and interactivity

● Increase educators and school staff’s ability to help more students strive, survive, and thrive in the classroom, while helping them to take responsibility for helping to make it their job to care about whether students are striving, surviving, and thriving.

● Increase educators and administrators’ understanding of what students need to strive, survive, and thrive, how they’re striving, surviving, and thriving, and what would help and assist them in striving, surviving, and thriving more in school and life.

● Offer outreach content in the firm of: professional development workshop, webinars, and seminars to assist educators with helping more students to strive, survive, and thrive while increasing student engagement and student motivation for such.

● Add to the existing body of research on the subject.

Our second goal is to launch a series of outreaching events that will deliver workshops, seminars, and town hall meeting type programming to encourage more college students to prepare for college, while educating them of the realities of college life and what it really means by hearing the stories of college students and their true life and accounts.

Additionally, there are three sides to this work and three main target audiences which include high school students, community college & college students, and high school and college educators.
